
The 2nd Ward Democrats endorse incumbent Katherine Gilmore Richardson for City Council At-Large. The youngest woman ever elected citywide and the youngest African American woman elected to City Council, her record shows her commitment to drafting and supporting legislation that improves transparency and accountability in city government, bolsters sustainable investment decisions for the City’s Pension Fund, pushes for enhanced Career and Technical education and workforce development opportunities for our city’s youth and beyond. In June 2020, Gilmore Richardson introduced a bill to require public hearings before adopting labor contracts, including the agreement with Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5. This legislation was passed by City Council in September 2020 to increase transparency and public participation in labor negotiations.
