The Second Ward Democrats endorse Erin McClelland for Pennsylvania Treasurer. She is the Democratic Party nominee for state treasurer. The treasurer plays a significant role in the management of state funds, particularly as to how funds are invested and monitored. Ms. McClellan is challenging the Republican incumbent who she criticizes for a lack of transparency in her investments, for being an election denier and for politically inspired investments in other countries such as in Israeli bonds.
Ms. McClelland vows to increase investment transparency. She would enhance cybersecurity to protect our funds from hacking such as was done by Iran and would reinstate a shareholder engagement program with other like-minded states to push investment companies to deal with relevant social ills.
