The Second Ward Democrats endorse Bob Casey for United States Senate. Senator Casey was first elected to the US Senate in 2006. Since then he’s supported and introduced legislation that promotes access to SNAP benefits, and advocates for older adults, children, and people with disabilities. He has also taken a strong stance against the gun violence epidemic by renewing a ban on assault weapons and enhanced background checks and introduced the Hate Crimes Prevention Act that prevents persons convicted of hate crimes from purchasing a firearm. This bill was later signed into law by former President Obama.
