Betsy Wahl began her career as a public defender at the Defender Association of Philadelphia.  While raising her family, she spent a decade finalizing hundreds of adoptions and serving as a mediator for domestic relations matters in both private settings and for the City of Philadelphia. Of perhaps greatest relevance, since 2002, Betsy has served as a Juvenile Court Hearing Officer in Philadelphia, where she presides over both juvenile delinquency and dependency hearings. Because she knows a decision to place youths outside their homes cannot be made lightly, she has used her weekends and evenings to visit virtually every placement and program to ensure each child’s needs will be met.  If elected, she would advocate that all juveniles – not just those in her own courtroom – would be given options available in Graduated Response Court.
