Michelle Hangley has used her skills and position to work on behalf of both voting rights and criminal justice, as well as the wide variety of business-related matters her “normal” practice entails.  During 2018-19, she devoted much of her time to the Pennsylvania Congressional gerrymandering litigation, in which she represented Governor Wolf and his administration. In 2020, she litigated a series of challenges to Pennsylvania’s mail-in ballot and other procedures for the 2020 primary and general elections, including claims brought by the Trump campaign, challenging all 67 Pennsylvania counties’ use of drop boxes for mail-in ballots. During this same period of time, she also prepared briefs on behalf of the ACLU of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. These are not recent changes in her commitment to public service, but represent the continuation of the service she has provided since the beginning of her career.  Michelle was rated “highly recommended” by the Philadelphia Bar Association.
